One can go to a store and buy a canteen and be happy for a while with it. They aren’t very expensive and will do the job. Most of them western style canteens come with a fabric liner. How long it will last is one of the unknowns.
Since our long-time family dog past away recently I wanted to have something of him that will remain. All the sudden I had this idea about a leather canteen.

I decided to use some lace I got on eBay. Not the smartest decision, but Kangaroo lace is really expensive over here and import not an option.
